How can I get scorched carpet off of my iron?

I recently knocked my iron off of the ironing board and it immediately melted my bedroom carpet on contact. I now not only have an iron mark on my carpet (it’s not black, but is a melted iron shape), but I have melted carpet on my iron.

Any suggestions on getting the carpet off of the iron? Is there a scouring pad or cleanser that would safely work?

I have a back-up iron, but it’s not as nice as my ruined one.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

    Dear Friend.
I use W D40 when ever some thing sticks to any thing.
Try the WD40, let soak in for a few minutes, then use steel wool.
I would appreciate knowing if this works for you.
I have no idea how many uses WD40 has, but it is amazing.
I use it to take sun fade off paint on Mobil homes. Rub on and wipe. Looks like brand new.
Beings it takes off rust, it should take off carpet.

pre heat the iron and get a metal scraper and scrap a much as you can off. then(for irons without the nonstick coatings) use a wet Brillo pad on the still hot iron (take a throwaway piece of cotton cloth and make a pad put the Brillo in the middle ) you should be good as new.

Lay a damp course cloth across your ironing board and run the iron over the cloth , push down on the iron whilst doing this and the mess will come off. For your carpet , if you have a spare piece of matching carpet , or you cut cut a piece from some place it will not show , for example under heavy furniture or from inside a closet. Cut the burnt piece of carpet out using a safety razor . Dab the bottom of the hole and the tufts with a suitable latex adhesive . Insert the tufts into the hole and allow to dry , then brush if necessary to blend with the pile
