How can I get over my fear of boats?
I am going to Catalina Island soon with my friend and her family, and I REALLY want to go; sounds like a great offer since they’re paying for it and it’ll give me something fun to do over my summer break. However in order to get there we have to take a large boat, and I’ve always been kinda terrified of big oceans and boats. What can I do to get over this fear? Thanks!!

The fear is usually of drowning rather than of the boat itself (theoritcally a boat on land isn’t scary). Therefore the way to beat it is to feel safe in the water. Swimming lessons, basic water safety lessons and gaining the personal knowledge that if you fall in you will be perfectly fine. If the water holds no fear then the trip is easy.
just do it im sure once your on it you won’t be afraid if not my B
Go on a boat before you leave
I would just pretend that you weren’t on a boat. I know that must sound dumb, but find somewhere on the boat where you can’t see the water, like a dining room or something. That might help. And maybe bring something for yourself, like an iPod or a GameBoy. Good luck! I know how you feel- driving on the freeway at speeds above forty miles an hour TERRIFIES me, though it seems silly.
