How often does carpet need to be replaced in apartments in Illinois?

We have lived in the same apartment for 3 years in Schaumburg, Illinois and we will be moving out in November. The carpet is very light and after 3 years it has picked up so many stains and discolorations that will not come out. We don’t want to lose our security deposit over the carpet having to be replaced. If you have an answer for me please source where you found it so I can use that. The management at the complex are not honest with anyone and I will need to have something to back this up with.

    Hi,
Generally, good carpets can last between 10-20yrs of every
day use. Cheaper quality ones between 3-5 years.

Look up the fair housing laws in your State..Was the carpet new when you moved in? Do your self a favor and get the carpets cleaned befor you move out.

Here in California the paint and Carpet is Void after 2 years

Carpets should have a life of 5 years and can run much longer if properly padded and cared for. But for your purposes 5 years.

My carpets are 13 years old and they are not stained and unusable and I even have 3 dogs living with me. With cleaning when spots happen and vacuuming often my carpets look brand new.
