How much would it cost to get chiropractic care for my cat?

My cat has a pinched nerve in his lower back due to calcification between two of his vertebrae. The veterinarian told me I should try going to a feline chiropractor, because the only other option is surgery, which I can’t afford. Has anyone here taken their cat to a chiropractor? How much did it cost?

I think it depends on where you are and what the chiropractor does. Last time we took our cat to a pet chiropractor it was $50 per visit. My cat only required a checkup and minor spine adjustment. It wasn’t anything serious at all. The session lasted for about 20-30 minutes. If your cat’s condition is serious you may need more than one visit. Good news is, the chiropractor told us that cats generally need less sessions than dogs, usually a few visits will do.

What you can also try is animal acupuncture and physiotherapy. It’s about $75 per session where I live (Vancouver, Canada). My cat hated acupuncture so we opted for the chiropractor.

Please do have your cat try the chiropractor before going for the surgery. It is a lot less invasive.

    Good luck!

Well I am not sure about cats, but for a horse it costs about $75-150 (and much more depending on the chiropractor), considering the size difference, I would say it shouldn’t be much more.

I’m sure it is costly, because he or she is considered a specialist. I can’t imagine there are very many practicing feline chiropractors. You would have to decide what would be best, the cost of surgery or a feline chiropractor. Depending on where you live, you may have to travel to see a kitty chiropractor. Try checking out a University. Many times they have veterinary schools that practice the newest and most advanced procedures.
