I know there’s many different types of engineers but which ones design and construct bigger boats. I means like crusie ships, war ships and like oil rigs and that stuff.

There are engineers and then there are architects. If you are looking into the design of a vessel, then Nautical Architecture is the way to go. Yet if your looking into a field that focuses on the actual building of a vessel, then Maritime Systems Engineering is your ticket. Both can be found at Texas A&M University at Galveston.

Don’t confuse Marine Engineering with Maritime Systems Engineering. Marine Engineering covers more mechanical aspects of a vessel such as engine design, construction, and maintenance.

    Hello,

Yes, there are many types of engineers, such as a marine engineer who would design and build boats.

They usually are mechanical engineers with a specialty in hull design and so forth. If they specialize in ships it is usually called a marine engineer.

See this link and scroll down to Marine engineers and naval architects
