Why are their people who make it a full time job to disseminate negative information about chiropractic?

I have noticed on a lot of different forums a small group of people who do nothing but post negative information on chiropractic and am curious to why?

If you asked these people directly what they are up to, they will reply they teach English in Taiwan ( or was it Korea ? ), they work helping street kids out for minimum wage, etc, and that this criticism they indulge in is just a spare time activity. But this pattern is way too organized and consistent to be just that. Plus, you have to take into account the time involved in putting up this propaganda. It is my belief and the belief of many others here these guys and gals are on the payroll of competing businesses. Ditto for those that ( unsuccessfully ) smear alternative therapy in other forums. And those that inevitably respond like clockwork that this is a conspiracy theory, I ask is Madison Avenue one too ?

    There, not their

I have a fulltime job. It is only a hobby to make people aware that chiropractic is bogus.

(deliberate use of the word "bogus", as British science journalist Simon Singh is currently being sued for libel by the British Chiropractic Association for using that term when referring to chiropractic)

I wonder how someone knows a chiro is bogus without ever trying one.

I think some may be bogus. If they think that doing your back will cure a cold or something like that. But when my hubby injured his back at work all the medical doctor wanted to do is give him pills that put him to sleep. A chiro treated him, at a reduced rate, no less, and he got the relief he needed. It was also faster than the predictions the med. doctor had given. Now he goes whenever he starts to feel pain and is better in just a short time.

Why are there people who whine about skeptics who demand proof of their claims? If chiro works then the skeptics would shut up and shut up happily. Unfortunately, beyond back pain, chiro hasn’t been proven to help.
People like Skep Doc hang around Y! Answers to keep people from getting hurt by bad chiros and other unproven therapies.
This is just like the British Chiro Association suing the journalist Simon Singh for libel. Instead of proving their remedies by testing, they decide to try to shut up their critics.

The same reason people make it their mission to talk negatively about psychiatrists and anti-depressants….and when I find out that reason I’ll let you know
