Phased Retirement – A New Concept

Phased Retirement is a book written especially for the Baby Boomer generation.

As Baby Boomers face the typical retirement, age, they begin to think about the income available in their retirement funds, current pension plans, whether they’ll take early retirement, will there be sufficient income in retirement to live comfortably, how to plan for health insurance and whether they want to continue to work, perhaps part time. They may be concerned about whether they’ve even planned for retirement in a way that will be beneficial.

These are valid concerns and this book serves as a comprehensive guide to help alleviate some of the concerns of a Boomer facing the retirement phase of life. This book also provides a general overview of what phased retirement is all about and how this new trend towards retirement can be approached to maximize it to the best advantage.

To be honest, before I read this book I hadn’t even heard of phased retirement. Now that I’ve read it, it makes perfect sense. Not every Baby Boomer who is approaching retirement age will have the funds to actually be able to fully retire. Not every Boomer wants to. Phased Retirement by Bart Rutherford offers options to planning your transition. I found the book very interesting and informative. While I’m on the younger end of the Baby Boomer range, retirement is something that still concerns me.

Kindle Fire – The best tablet short of a iPad

Considering a price point at $199, there’s no doubt that the Kindle Fire is a great tablet because of its’ features for the low cost. The screen displays vibrant colors and is a multi-touch display. For a 7″ screen, it presents excellent image quality. Sitting on 512MB, or a half-a-gig of ram, the Kindle Fire runs smooth with minimal lag if any. The snappy dual-core processor gets the job done. Although it lacks a microphone, it really isn’t a big problem because it’s not totally necessary on a tablet. The two top speakers that are housed on the top provide good quality sound and are decently loud. With more updates to come, I expect the Kindle Fire to keep becoming more of a competitor on the tablet market. At $199, the Kindle Fire is an outstanding device.

The small bar pan is great. Everything comes out golden brown. Nothing sticks to it like metal pans and it fits great in the toaster oven. Love the pan recommend it highly.

About Stoneware:  Evenly distributes heat and draws moisture away from the surface.  Retains heat, so your just-out-of-the-oven foods stay hot longer. No presoaking needed before use. Virtually nonporous, so it doesn’t retain oils, odors or flavors. Microwave-, freezer-, and conventional and convection oven-safe

What Your Contractor Can’t Tell You: The Essential Guide to Building and Renovating

What Your Contractor Can’t Tell You is a comprehensive guide to getting the best results while building or renovating a home. Most homeowners spend about 20% of their time on the plan and 80% of their time on a messy, traumatic, expensive construction phase. Pros spend 80% of their time on the plan and 20% on a smooth construction phase. But the homeowners can’t know what goes into a solid plan unless someone tells them.

This book is based on a simple premise…if homeowners knew even 10% of what the professionals in the construction field know, they could avoid 90% of the problems. Creating a dream home shouldn’t be a nightmare. Hiring a contractor is an enormous investment and a high-risk endeavor involving decisions that will last forever.

This book equips homeowners with the information and strategies needed to turn their vision into a home or a renovation that can be built on time and within budget. Chapters give detailed coverage of critical topics: design; selecting and supervising the architect and contractor; cost estimates; budget; plan specifications; contracts; dealing with town officials; and keeping track of everything along the way.

For each stage of the project, there is detailed information on common pitfalls and how to avoid them, as well as insiders’ tips which reveal what most contractors can’t tell you.

Logitech HD Pro Webcam

Installation was a breeze, it took less than 3 minutes to install. I am using it in a Windows 7 OS 64-bit environment. Unlike most webcam installations, this one was up and running in no time. It has a user-friendly and a very easy to navigate interface/menu. High Definition is pretty much the norm for resolution qualities now-a-days. The Logitech C910 I consider is the “high-end” webcam for the average user. The webacm sits on my 23 widescreen monitor, it balances perfectly on my monitor even though it does not have a clip. However, this might not work so well with laptops.

I love this coffee maker. The coffee is delicious, rich, and velvety. I’ve never been able to make coffee that I really like at home. I’ve tried different coffee makers, different coffee brands, filtered water, but nothing satisfies – until now. This machine has slashed my coffee budget at least by half. Now I don’t even want to go out for coffee. I can make great cup right at home and it’s perfect every time. I also like that I can just make one cup at a time. It was more than worth the money.

Spine-Worx is Amazing!

Designed by a chiropractor, this natural back support system uses your body’s own weight to apply controlled pressure to the spinal vertebrae. As you lie on Spine-Worx, your spine is pressed firmly against the length of its two unique padded and contoured rails, injection-molded to fit the natural shape of the mid- and lower back. The vertebrae in the spine are gradually and gently encouraged to realign into their natural positions, which helps to relieve backpain and improve overall mobility.

As a 50 y/o male who has suffered from back pain since a teen, I know how back related issues discount our quality of life. I have been and I remain a Chiropractic patient but found the time & expense needed for relief long and pricy, so I thought I’d try the Spine-Worx Back Realignment Device and am delighted with the results!

Bissell Spotbot – The Miracle Worker

I decided to get a Spotbot because of advice in a pet magazine. After all, I have 3 small dogs, a 15-year-old cat, and an 80+-year-old mom living with me. We get a LOT of spots. And we have Berber carpet over the living room area, which is the most spot-prone carpet I have ever had. Anyway, I love the product! I went over several old spots before I had the carpet cleaned, and they have not resurfaced. I also use it on my bedroom shag carpeting and it works beautifully.

I just use one capful of each of the carpet cleaners that come with it, and that is all it needs, even for the set-in stains. My carpet cleaner guy also recommended I just put a combination of white vinegar and water half-and-half in the Spotbot to use on pet accidents as that would neutralize them and keep them from staining. So I think think this is a good product that is worth every penny!!!
