If weight loss is all about reducing calories and exercising, why not starve yourself?

Everyone seems to say the same thing about weight loss; reduce calories, exercise more. Then why not starve yourself? Then there is NO calories. Wouldn’t that make the most sense? Wouldn’t the body use up its fat reserves quicker?

i just asked a question on weight loss and people said i was insane and it was not enought food
so i made a new list
im a 13 year old girl and i weight 165 pounds and im 5feet 2 incches
i know im really overweight so im gonna try to go on a diet
breakfast
1 bowl of honey nut cheerios and milk (cherios are whole grain, and the milk is organic and lowfat)
lunch
half a cucumber
an apple
10 almonds
and 7 baby carrots
dinner
2 glasses of water with freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 rice crispie (90 calories)
im gonna drink lots of water
if i get really hungry inbetween i will drink green tea, and eat baby carrots
i usually NEVER do excersise so im gonna try to change that
im gonna start of with 10 situps every night, and im gonna increase the amount every week by 5
and i will walk for 30 minutes 2-3 times a week
is this a healthy diet?
is this too much food?? because in the last plan i made people said it was too little so i added more food
how much weight do u think i will lose in 2 weeks and will i keep it of?

I’m 14, I’ve been eating less than half of the reccomended calories every day (today only 11% so far,) i’ve been running a mile every other day, yet i haven’t seen a difference in my appearance or weight at all. I’ve been at it for a week. I know that this isn’t exactly healthy, but I NEED to lose weight in two weeks. Besides making myself throw up or diet pills (not interested!) what weight loss methods work the fastest? I’m up for anything!
and, no i’m not obese. i just want to lose like 3 lbs

I really need some tips on loosing weight. I do weigh a lot for my height, but I dont look like I weight what I do. Still, I would like to loose about 20 lbs for now. I’m wondering if anyone could give me some good weight loss tips. I dont believe in dieting, but rather realistic lifestyle changes. Like eating healthier without depriving myself and still being about to eat the things I like in moderation. Is there a certain number of calories to consume in a day? I also would like some exercise ideas I could do at home. I hate the gym and with school I dont have time to go to one or the money. Any tips would be great…thanks.

My sister is on a VLCD looking to lose weight and she’s been on it for 3 days now, eating between 550 and 750 calories a day. And she’s freaking out because her weight loss isn’t showing on the scale, but she feel like she’s lost weight… I don’t think she LOOKS like she’s lost any weight, but I may be wrong.
How does temperature affect the burning of calories and weight loss?

Some people assume that exercising in a hot environment causes you to burn more calories and loss more weight, but it seems to me that would just be water weight lost through sweating. However, if you exercise in colder temperatures, wouldn’t that cause you to burn more calories, as your body must work harder to maintain our relatively high body temperatures?
How big is the weight loss difference between eating less calories and eating "healthier" calories?

In other words, if you’re on, say, a 1400-calorie-a-day diet and excersizing regularly, how much of a difference in your weight loss will you see if you eat 1400 calories of McDonalds every day vs. 1400 calories of whole wheat toast and tofu?
