We came home from Christmas vacation to find that there was a leak in a pipe that seeped under the laminate flooring in the kitchen and ruined the carpet in the living room.

My question… I need to replace about 15-20 feet of laminate wood flooring and about 175 sq feet of carpet. Do you know how much either one will cost?

Is there some kind of way to protect the carpet and still be able to get down to the bottom without getting the carpet?
I realize taking up the carpet is an option, b ut if we do that, it won’t be as firm the the floor. Any other ideas?

My husband and I have tried everything we can think of. We used our steam cleaner, run the SpotBot over it and cleaned it with OxyClean, but it still will not come out. Looking for any ideas or suggestions on how to get this stain out.

Please note that I am looking for reliable ideas, so please do not tell me to get rid of my carpet. Thank you.

Hardwood doesn’t have to get replaced all the time like carpet can, but I noticed that when we walk on the upper unit it can be very loud for the lower unit. Would carpet make a big difference in how much sound would come from kids running around etc. in the upper unit for people living below?
