Replacement carpeting (we’re moving). Looking at about a 15 foot hallway and 2 "average" size rooms that are maybe 12×12?. Just average carpet price and installation associated with something like that, what’s a ballpark figure?

What is a fair price for carpet including installation for a living room and a hall totaling 430 sq ft?
I know that the price largely depends on what type of carpeting I buy. I am looking for a ball park or average estimate. This is for a rental property and I only need it to last for about three years. I am the tenant and really don’t want to pay more than I have to since I am not going to be taking it with me when I move out. I don’t need anything too fancy but I would still like something comfortable that looks decent. As for the installation, there is no carpet to remove and I can move most if not all of the furniture myself if that reduces the price. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful in planning our budget for this project. Thanks
How do I prepare a cement floor for carpet installation? Do I need to worry about small amounts of adhesive?
We removed old carpeting from our basement. It had been glued to the cement and though we used an ice scraper to remove most of the carpet foam there are spots where a slight residue remains. Do I need a special chemical to remove the residue, or will the new padding and carpet mask this?

How do I clean carpet pad stains that show up several days after shampooing?
Old dog urine stains come up from the pad to the carpeting several days after shampooing. I’ve recleaned using a Bissell Proheat Turbo machine with Bissell Tough Stain Precleaner. I don’t walk on it for a couple of days to make sure it is dry. It looks clean, but after several days of walking on the carpet, the stains work their way back up to the carpet tufts from the pad. Any suggestions on how I can permanently remove the stains all the way down?

I am curious about how often people usually keep their carpeting in their house. I know some people keep their carpet until it has a few stains and some people keep their carpet until it has spots all over, ‘traffic lines’, etc.
