How much does it cost to replace carpet?
Last year my wife and I bought a new home. We came home from Christmas vacation to find that there was a leak in a pipe that seeped under the laminate flooring in the kitchen and ruined the carpet in the living room.
My question… I need to replace about 15-20 feet of laminate wood flooring and about 175 sq feet of carpet. Do you know how much either one will cost?

How do you check if there are good floors under your carpet?
We bought an older home that has the original hardwood in the living room and hallways. The bedrooms are carpeted. It is an ugly carpet. I wonder if the original hardwood is under the carpet and if it is still in good condition. Is there anyway to check besides ripping up the carpet and hoping?

My carpet got wet and the patches that dried became rough. How do I soften the carpet?
The washer in my apartment recently leaked all over the carpet. Stanley Steemer came and got up the worst of it, but the carpet is still really wet, so my apartment manager is having me use a dehumidifier. The parts of the carpet that have dried are now rough. Any ideas on how to soften the carpet? So much of the carpet is still wet, and I’m afraid it will all dry rough, and I’ll end up with most of my living room carpet being unpleasant to walk on.

I have what I believe are mildew stains in my white carpet. When my kids spill on the carpet, I clean the surface immediately. It appears to be clean, but within a day a dark spot develops. I have several of these spots in my living room. I have tried to use Resolve carpet stain remover with no results. Any advice?

How to protect carpet while transporting garbage cans?
I stay in a townhouse that does not have a garage. I have to transport my garbage cans from the backyard through my living room out the front door to the curb for trash collection. and vice versa.
My carpet always get dirty from whatever debris is stuck to the garbage can, even if I lift it up.
Leaving garbage cans outside the house is an HOA no-no and leaving the garbage cans near the front door in my house is an aesthetic & smell no-no.
